MEET SCOTT – A GLOBALTARGET PARTICIPANT

When we first met Scott, he was the newly installed International Product and Business Manager at Jergens, Inc. located in Cleveland.  Scott brought into his company -maker of work holding parts, lifting equipment, and industrial pins- to develop and build upon their success in foreign markets.   The company had already been through years of efforts in markets around the world, but the challenge before them now was how to create a bona fide strategy that could realize efficiencies and galvanize their sales and marketing efforts in an ever changing environment.

PARTNERING WITH MENTORS

By participating in GlobalTarget, Scott and his company were partnered with our mentors who had come from industries sharing much in common with Jergens. His mentors, Dick Seif, former Sr VP of Global Marketing and Product Dev at Lincoln Electric, and Ron Swinko, former CEO of JET Inc (a former GlobalTarget company in its own right) worked alongside trade advisors from the US Commercial Service and the state of Ohio.

DESIRED RESULTS

The net effect was the creation and refinement of a comprehensive plan to not only expand in certain markets, but a plan to scale down or otherwise refocus in others.  Such a complex process entails consideration of price, market trends, regulations, and internal capabilities and is no easy task. For that reason, he was greatly aided by our specialized program and the thoughtful input of our mentors who had led such exercises many times before.
