The Golden Room Salon

2024 INTERVIEW

Maurissa Thomas is the definition of a BOSS LADY! She came to the SBDC with a Business Plan and a dream of opening her own salon - with her sisters as co-owners. She maintained a positive and persistent attitude that kept her goals in focus as she navigated the winding and bumpy road of entrepreneurship. Maurissa worked closely with her advisors at the SBDC @ CSU as well as took advantage of all of the workshops offered, specifically the ones taught by expert speakers in the fields of law, insurance, and accounting. She listened intently to the answers to her questions, made to-do lists for herself, and came to our meetings with her lists crossed off and next steps laid out, ready for her to tackle. She is impressive and we absolutely loved working with her!

Here is what Maurissa had to say about working with our SBDC:

Share your recent business success!

The Golden Room Salon has obtained 100k in financing to open our family-owned business!

How did the SBDC at CSU help you?

SBDC was an invaluable resource. They provided accounting help by means of a business valuation which was needed to get our process started. They helped with our business plan and financial projections. Also, I was set up with a business mentor to help with continued success. Katie has given us so many resources! Leadership building, team building, marketing, just to name a few. Thank you so much!

Have you recommended the SBDC to anyone?

Yes!

Anything else that you would like to add?

Katie Van Dyke is the best!
